Migratory Birds are at Great Risk of Extinction, need Global Attention

 Migratory birds species are in danger of extinction globally. Nations should concern about this. 

The convention on migratory species(CMS) is closely working with India to conserve the migratory birds.

The reason why migratory birds travel to India in winter season for thousand of kilometer away is as follows: 

In every year during winter, birds migrate to India for breeding, food and nesting. There are some Siberian birds like Greater Flamingo, Siberian Cranes and Demoiselle Crane.  For them India is winter home.There also other uncountable species of birds who come from other region of world to India in winter. It happens because of too much coldness of their habitat winter.

Avian species which can be found in India are at great risk of extinction and they need highest degree of protection.Such birds are steppe eagle, Pallas's fish-eagle, eastern imperial eagle, white-tailed sea-eagle, and the greater spotted eagle.

Some other species are the Houbara bustard, Egyptian vulture, black-necked crane, lesser kestrel, great knot, sociable plover, ferruginous pochard, yellow-breasted bunting, marbled teal and Baer's pochard.

Migratory birds cover almost 11680 km by flying between Alaska and New Zealand.

Experts said, the great Indian bustard and Bengal florican are at great risk of extinction and need to be conserved them.

To conserve migratory birds, we need to stop illegal hunting, trade of migratory birds in the East-Asian Australasian Flyway, poisoning, use of lead ammunition and lead fishing weights. 

If we like to support the migratory birds, we have to protect wetlands, coastal areas, forests and grasslands for their appropriate habitats.
