The exoplanet Proxima-b was first discovered in 2016. Exoplanet has a mass which is 1.17 times the mass of Earth. Proxima-b completes one revolution around its sun in about 11 days. This exoplanet is 20 times closer to its sun than our Earth is from the sun.
Scientists believe the surface temperature of Proxima-b is similar to that of the earth. Temperature of the planet's surface could be between 30 degree celsius to minus 90 degree celsius.
The discovery of Proxima-b has marked one of the most important milestone in explanatory science.
Scientists believe it has a life supporting atmosphere.
The Proxima star which is like our sun, unfortunately this star bombards its planets with X-rays which is 400 times more than the Earth.
That is why, researchers from Southern Observatory revealed that any life that has evolved but might not have survived against this radiation.
